Another fundraiser for the Rathlin Jigs & Rigs festival is coming up this weekend. It’ll be a night of quality music and craic, so come along for a bit of dancing and shite talking.

We have a fundraising table quiz being organised for us to help fund our end of the shenanagans for this years Jigs & Rigs festival.

Location: Against the Grain, Camden Street, Dublin
Date: 30th June
Time: 7:30pm
Damage: 10 yo yos per person

Raffles and fabulous prizes to be won apprantly, so come along, dig deep and have a laugh. There’s a Facebook for those of you who do that, no idea what it says but I’m sure it’s awesome.

We have another two fundraisers coming up, we’ll have details here closer to the time.

Fingers out, one and all, and not a moment too soon. In typical “left to the last possible minute, yet executed with the grace and dignity of Twink” style, we are throwing a bash to assist us and our long term partners in offshore shenanigans, the mighty Force 10 Crew, to bring to you all…. the Jigs n Rigs Festival 2k9!

This is seriously some of the finest of the finest right here, we’re chuffed to bits to have the support of these guys, it’s a killer line up. Get in, people!

Prince Kong has been killing dance-floors for the last few years, like seriously killing them. He graced our stage at the last Jigs n Rigs, he did us the honour of playing with us at our belfast gig too, and the man is still with us! He’s had releases out on Alphabet Set and !kaboogie records, he’s recorded with Warrior Queen, Jah Balance and a host of other supremo vocalists the man is pushing through. Watch this, then get some air, and drink some water, then clear your calendar for saturday, cos you’ll need to lie down all day after friday. No joking.

PCP will probably be the reason for the introduction some sort of “life time achievement award” for Dublin’s counter-culture or underground or whatever it all is. The man is a Lifer, no doubt. He’s maintained a 15 year (yes.. 15 years!) presence on Radio na Life, Dublin’s most consistently excellent radio station, with his “PCP ina huí” weekly broadcast, the stains left on the nation by the SpaceCraft anarcho-theater collective (to whom the Audio Terrorists crew owe immense dues for inspiration and mojo.. seriously…) will never wash out and for this we are all better off… and he’s currently regularly proving he’s still down-with-the-kids spinning tunes with some of the world;s best at !kaboogie nights. We we trust you will all join us as we bow down before our leading ambassador in creative activism and active creativity, as we tip our hats and shout “Bo!” to a proppa selecta! Expect the new and cutting edge mixed in with the old and cutting edge.

Herv. An exceptional gentleman, he has been doing the Irish chiptune / 8bit / breakcore / noisecore / whatever scenes massively proudly over the years. He was an outstanding favourite at Jigs n Rigs 2007, and we’re delighted to announce he’ll be gracing our stage yet again this year. We seriously love Herv. Can’t even be bothered listing all his releases.. check the Discogs entry yourselves. Come down on friday not only to hear the man play his finest tones, but to observe all the female members of the audience be reduced to starry-eyed lust-fuelled gibbering balls of hormone. It sounds disgusting, but it’s really quite beautiful.

DJ Welfare will be making his debut appearance on the Audio Terrorists system, and about time too. A full time and active member of the Electronic Resistance DJ collective, the man is all about change. His jungle n breakcore and beyond sets have had him playing all round the country for the last couple of years and we look forward to his selection on friday. Giggidy.

A-Force. A few years ago now, Andy A-Force came into Dublin. Just walked in, all shoulders like. Synth under one arm, bag of records under the other. He didn’t say much really, just gave everyone the eye. And it’s pretty much worked. He’s got in there with like, all the crews of note… us, Alphabet Set, !kaboogie… pretty much anyone for whom BASS is a requirement will have got to know this man. He posts music an ting at Aistear Dub. Get in to us on early on friday to make sure you catch all this noise. Gonna be massive.

DJ Chuck from our partners in revelry, the Force 10 crew will be hitting the wheels of steel. We first met Chuck in a woods many years ago. He wasn’t chucking wood, now, he’s not a woodchuck, he’s just a Chuck. But he’s a good Chuck, and we love him. Expect some groovy dance-floor action. Gonna be mega.

So there ye have it. Get there early for added value for your donations and to hear all the talent. We’ll be playing as late as we’re allowed to. All donations received will go into the general costs of running the festival… the millions of sundries required for such an event. Highly appreciate all your support in this. Keep your eyes on the site for more updates about the festival over the next couple of weeks.

Jigs ‘n’ Rigs!

Just a quick post to say the biggest thank you to Force 10 for the best week of our summer. It was just brilliant to see you all again, and to work with ye on the festival. Thanks also very muchly to our army of helpers on the “Audio Terrorists Work Camp”; everyone was great!

We’ll no doubt work out some proper photo and video galleries and stuff over the next while, so keep checking back for that.

Audio Terrorism in Rathlin

Hey all,

Looks like we’ve lined up a hell of a lot of Audio Terrorism for the Jigs and Rigs Festival on Rathlin Island this weekend.

If you’re interested in coming along, head over to the Force 10 website to book a ticket. All profits are going towards the Hill of Tara campaign.

This year we’re teaming up with Deviant, a crew based in Belfast (and there’s a chance that we’ll have a few of the Tír na gCasta heads playing with us as well. Other than that we’ve got a whole load of Alphabet Set, Invisible Agent and our own assorted noise makers.

Wow, what a nice midweek night out! The gig was great, thanks so much to everyone.. to Enda Firehouse, T-woc, Soundman Soro, BlueFood, Melody Masher, Warren Daly, everyone who came, and of course, Shelly, who put the whole thing together. It was a lovely crowd, great vibe, a nice decompression session for those of us who were at the Mantua festival at the weekend.

Great to see so many familiar faces from there at this gig. As a fundraiser, it went very well for us, we can’t believe it, we’re so appreciative. For those of you who are curious, the money raised will go into diesel for the journey and for 3 days worth of gennies, the (expensive) ferry fare involved in moving a 7 meter van across to the island, and food and sundries for a (potentially ramshackle) communal kitchen we are working at getting in order for the festival.

If you haven’t done it yet, get on over to the Force 10 website and book your tickets asap. Then get moving and book your place on the ferry, or make an arrangement with one of the other boat crews as detailed on the Force 10 site.

Although a ticketed event this year, Jigs n Rigs 2007 is a non profit event, and any proceeds from the festival will go straight into the Save Tara Campaign, a cause close to our own hearts, and of course, we will absolutely follow suit: if we end up with any spare money.. that’s where it’s going.

Massive thanks again to everyone, book them tickets, and we’ll see ye in the field!

Audio Terrorists going to Rathlin

Well slap my ass and call me Susan, if it isn’t an update! We have been disgracefully quiet here and in hibernation for the last while or was it a coma, not sure, anyway the point is we’re here now, it’s the thought that counts after all.

What is it that has risen us from our sleep like state? Well it’s none other than the wondrous event that is Jigs and Rigs. That’s right the good people at Force 10 are doing their fantastic festival on Rathlin Island and we are delighted to have been asked back once again, one sniff of Rathlin and we’re ready for action. This year we’re going to be hooking up with Tír Na gCasta and Deviant.

This year the festival will be a ticketed event in order to try and control numbers, ticket prices are a paltry £20 and can be purchased from the Force 10 website, all proceeds go to the campaign to save the Hill of Tara, a very worthy cause. In the meantime we are doing a fund-raiser to help us make it to Rathlin as we’re totally skint. If you’re in Dublin on the 18th July, come along to 4 Dame Lane for a night of quality reggae / dub / dancehall / electronica / breakcore and much much more brought to you by some of the top DJs and producers Dublin has to offer; Enda, T-woc, Soundman Soro, BlueFood and Melody Masher with visuals by Warren Daly. Rumour has it that there may even be a raffle, it’s going to be more fun than you can shake a stick at.

Welcome to the all new audio terrorists site, it’s been a very long time coming but sure it’s here now. We’ve now got proper audio, photo, video and links sections so hopefully these will be choc full of stuff to look at and download. Enjoy – the audio terrorists collective.

Thank you so much to all the Force 10 kru for an absolutely fantastic Jigs & Rigs. We just can’t thank them enough for all the driving, collecting, lifting, tool lending, materials contributions (those fence posts were excellent, we’ve never had such a sturdy decks table), generator use, the list goes on. Can’t wait for next year.

We’ve got a lost and found section for all the random Jigs & rigs leftovers below. If anybody recognises anything or know who owns it, get in touch. As you can see the only thing we lost was an audio terrorists flag which we’d love to get back so if anyone knows of it’s whereabouts please let us know.
