well i dunno what the alternative to an hour is really
when i used to dj i always found an hour really short. it’s not an issue.. i just try to keep it off the interweb like. sure just say cravings. may as well. i dunno.

Ok. Well, it will really depend on how many people we’ve got playing. We’re assuming 6am cut off time, but certainly for live sets 1 hour is plenty. I just think if everyone has an hour that’s fair??
As far as setting up goes and things runnign over.. well that always happens. However with the whole accommodating Deviant and Tir Na gCasta we actually kind of need to plan this out properly.
Each artist needs to know what time they’re playing at. They should show up 15-30 minutes before their set and get ready to play.
Obviously that might sound a bit unrealistic but what other way can we do it? If we start giving 1.5 hour sets it gets more complicated?
Haven’t really chatted with Donn and Warren about it yet, we’ve just had some breakfast. Late night last night.

Alex my good man,
just going through records and trying to decide what should make it to the island. Was kinda hoping for a bit more of a breakdown on this list as to which djs and live sets are playing which kinds of music.
I know that the AT has a serious reputation to uphold so I’m not sure realy what to bring. Do you know is anyone else playing drum and bass? I’d say there will be a fair few djs in there playing breaks but to be honest I havent a clue. Ah isolation is sweet.
Love the near sundown set time but not sure if its the right spot for me to be hammering out evil metal jungle madness. Let me know what you think.

I’ll try and summarise what I can. We don’t really know what each of the Deviant / Tir na gCasta lads will be playing. In can be estimated thusly:
Tir na gCasta = TeKno
Deviant = Acid Techno
I’ll put something after the others if I know how and will ask spewey and co if they can give me the rest.
Deciding where to put people has been extremely difficult, especially when we don’t actually know how many slots Deviant are going to get.
Not sure what the drum and bass status will be.

I have made some adjustments to the line up. Still no word from deviant on their dj plans. We potentially have 5 hours of overflow time to allow for late starts etc. But all in all time is fairly tight and we’ll definitely have to be strict on the 1 hour rule.
I’d like changeovers to be as quick as possible so we will be asking everyone to be set up 15 minutes before their set.

just a thought.. and i’ve only glanced at this.. but an example being you straight after herv.. if we had a dj in between each live act it would surely make each live set up much easier. i’m assuming the decks will be permanently set up where they are, and live acts will have another table or so? i keep randomly interjecting stuff into the line up which is not my area at all! and ye are doin great with it..

Aye. That’s true enough. I’m not sure how much of a space we’ll have for the live acts and how much space some of them require.
However, say on Saturday night, Paul very much want to be on before Karl as they have been doing some work together and feels they’d merge nicely into each other. I’m really liking the look of Saturday night actually. More so than the other nights. It’d be easy enough to switch herv and tir na gcasta on friday night.
Anyone else any thoughts?

Right. I’ve made some adjustments to the line up. I really want to get this finalised as soon as possible.
1. Deviant have requested 9 slots (reduced from 13) – I don’t know if we’re letting them have them all, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Currently they have quite a few people playing on Sunday night – which just had some free slots.
2. Steve McCullagh requested a slot not on Sunday as he may have to leave on Sunday, so I moved Andy over to Sunday.
3. Still no names from TnG, which I’d like to confirm before we publish the line up officially.
4. My head is fucking wrecked with this and trying to slot everyone in. It looks like all of the Deviant crew are “Schranz” which is described here. Doesn’t sound overly exciting to me and might make things a bit jumpy in style when it goes from that to, eh, someone else.. I’m too tired to be thinking about this.
5. If any DJ starts complaining about anything they better have very good cause for their complaint or they can go arrange their own stage.

Wow I realy must be out of the loop. I always thought schranz meant cheezy euro/german trance sped up and loads of buff guys with no shirts and leather pants all standing around acting suspicious.
13 slots out of 30 aint expecting half much. Do we need 9 sets of shranz?
I say fuck it, through the whole line up out and just go with the list warren put. I will get my blackberry out, smoke a few lightbulbs of crystal meth and make sure Tiesto, Sasha and Nando Dixkontrol are ready to rock. Is there a helipad on Rathlin. Oh yeah and where is the V.I.P. lounge going to be? Better make sure to stock up on Cristal and Courvoisier.

For the time being I have just left their slots empty. I’ll work out some re-ordering later today. We have a good bit more space now. Which I don’t particularly want to fill up with schranz 😉

Hey I’m sorry to hear that Tir na gCasta have decided not to venture with us but I must agree that there is no need for more than the 9 uber pounding schranz sets already lined up for the Deviant Crew.
I know that the list you have up is only tentative but I was thinking about the sunday night and having 3 hours of schranz to end the weekend off with might just make some people turn in to puffins and jump off the cliffs and I’m not sure but I don’t think Health & Safety would be to happy bout that.
Is there any chance we could spread the tir na gcasta slots out to give some of the other people abit more time? I think that there is a nice diversity in the line up (well other than the uber schranz tapdance extravaganza).
I’m not trying to be greedy here but as it seems I’m the only one playing breaks I was wonering about doing a breaks set and then a drum & bass set at some other time during the weekend. Even if it was only to promote musical diversity that is.

I think we should all work on that idea of turning into puffins. It tops the whole ‘Furries’ idea we had hands-down. I’m going to play a hard-trad-crunk-sliptoe-pins in yer eyes ye bastard-no repetiton of any beats style and wreck everyones heads. puffins love it. the way i always go is simple: try build things up from the start from slower to faster then have some variation or complete lunacy (not necessarily all banging), then take it down or blow it up as a finish off. always works for us. my tu’pence
something like this – dubstep/breaks/drum’n’bass/tekno-styles/beaty-electronica/breakcore/(insert tekno here)/wackyshit/breaks or d’n’b/electronica/ambient/nonsense or whatever (trad/weirdness – great for the morning)

well the story with T na G is no-one knows whats going on. just spoke to dave, his van was supposed to be back ont he road last week but it still isn’t so doesn’t look like they will have any transport at all, even cars by the sound of it so the lads may not be able to make it up let alone bring any gear.
he said he’ll talk to joe when he gets back to langerland this evening and work out what they’re at.

i was in alan’s (tir na gcasta) for a while earlier. he reckoned dave has a car. he seemed a bit negative when looking at the force 10 site, reading all about tickets and security and all. still kinda wondering what would happen if they do show up with a van full of rig… but he knows the craic. i told him we had slots for them to play if any of them make it.. he’s going to try to get dave to bring some lights and an amp if he finds his way up. so yeah. that’s that i think. i told him to keep in touch and let me know if they were having hassle at ballycastle.. we should be able to find ways of getting them over surely? there’ll only be a few of them if any i think.
