I’ve got flashing coloured rope lights…in my folks gaff :-/ If anyone wants to go get em (i’ll warn the folksios) they’re in my room, in a box on the far side of the bed (beside window)

Oh yeah…spaces in Als van gone so can someone pick me up from Belfast with the convoy on Wednesday?
There’s an asian supermarket just down the road from me if ya want me to get staples there…
And Belfast is generally snarled with roadworks of one sort or another so to all travelling avoid it if you can, particularly Friday.

@2BiT: I believe the current plan is for Donn to collect you. We’re running a little tight on car space unless we have steve or someone else driving from dublin as well.
Currently we have Alan taking 2
I will have to take 4 in my skoda til belfast and donn would have to meet us or niall in belfast
I think having another car would give us a little more room for manoeuvre! We have 11 going on Wed night. So if only myself and Alan drive from dublin warren has to go to leitrim to get lift with donn from there.

@105 – those lights will be brilliant. If someone can collect them that would be deadly. If no one is about I can drop in on monday or tuesday.

MESSAGE TO ALL:
Ewan (herv) had a lift planned for Friday but it has fallen through. We need to sort out a lift for him and if anyone is going up to catch a Friday ferry can you let me know.
He’s down to play on friday night. Obviously this can be moved if necessary, but it would be good to get him up there for Friday as early as possible.

Ok. I’ve had a look at the car stuff for Wednesday evening. The way it is at the moment is that the only real option is for Alan and myself to take full vehicles straight to Ballycastle.
Donn is leaving from Leitrim with Warren and is the only person that can collect Niall.
Unless someone else has a suggestion. I don’t really know the routes, but directions on the web suggest that this will add about an hour to Donn’s drive.
In other news, it looks like we have a lift sorted for Ewan on Friday morning, so that should all be good.

i think we should just presume tir na gcasta won’t bring stuff so. we’ve told dave we’ll do the rig so i imagine as far as he’s concerned then he’ll just be bringing his own stuff, and as such, not using his van or his trailor or whatever. i reckon we’ll get power from damien, and sure we’ve donn’s gennie anyway.
and isn’t there going to be visuals? isn’t wadsy doing that.. obviously there won’t be live visual artists or that.. but last time with dave’s projector we just put milkdrop or some winamp plugin thing on and it was grand.. if there is , then i reckon that kinda rules out the need for lights really. i dunno.. tir na gcasta are so chaotic. any time i tried talking to alan last night he just went on about some big party they’re doing at the end of august.. and totally didn’t seem interested in talking about rathlin.. not in a bad way.. he’s just scatty

Ok as for lights I’m going to be confirming all tomorrow. I’m either going to bring 2 or maybe 4 standard stage cans with coloured gels. Don’t know if 4 will be needed. I was really just thinking about having some light so it wasn’t pure dark in the marquee. Will also either be bringing 2 storbes or colour changing lights to put in the cloth tubes. It wasn’t about making it a night club so I hope this will suffice.

I think the tubes are going to be made to order. Alex has them on his list of things he is bringing so I take it that we just need the lights to sit at the bottom of them. Does anyone remember what was used as the ribs in the tubes to keep them round? Has anyone got pallets sorted out for the rig and the light tubes to sit on? If not let me know and I can try and get some sorted out. Was also wondering was anyone going to bring an extra set of needles for the decks just incase?

Aye, I think last time we had the tubes hanging from the ceiling, and there was a light at the very bottom of them shining up into the tube.
I think. That’s what I’ve envisioned anyway.

aye mick still has the original tube we had last time. from what i remember there is a metal ring at the top and bottom going through the tube which gave it it’s shape and then they were hung.
i bought some more muslin to make a second one

The cyan-eyed marquee and Chris’ tent are both in the lockup with my van, as is Donn’s gennie and a few other bits n pieces. Is there anything else, aside from the sound system, which needs to be moved in the van?
Also, there’s only 12 of the smaller poles with Chris’ tent, as well as the two long centre poles. Some of the others are missing or broken but Chris reckons 12 is sufficient. That’s what he used in Rathlin anyway.

i’m sure chris’ tent will be fine. the food and all the kitchen stuff really needs to be collected together somewhere (very soon… like today) to be loaded into the van.

kitchen stuff will only be ready on wednesday. plan is for it all to be collected together at john’s place. That will be the last stopping point before heading up north.
